Scaffold for tile hanging, Orchard Street, Farnborough

Service we supplied: Scaffolding for tile hanging.

Location: Orchard Road, Farnborough GU14 7PR.

Customer requirements: A quotation was requested for the erection of a scaffold on the front elevation of a two-story detached property in Farnborough. The scaffold was needed to enable tile hanging work on the property’s lower porch and bay window.

Issues that arose: The installation of this scaffold proceeded smoothly, facilitated by unimpeded access to the front of the property and ample space for equipment manoeuvrability.

What we did:

• Our scaffolders erected a structure that was approximately 6 metres wide and only 2.4 metres high.
• This scaffolding featured a single working lift that was fully boarded and 5 scaffold boards deep.
• The scaffold platform was erected at the base of the area where the tile hanging would occur.
• The working platform featured double handrails and toeboards for fall protection.
• Fixed ladder access was supplied to the left-hand side of the scaffold.
• A yellow ladder gate was also fixed on the first boarded lift.
• Two upright standard tubes (legs) had to be placed in the customer’s raised bed; however, our team ensured they did not damage any plants.
• A total of 8 scaffold tubes were used as the upright vertical legs to create this structure.
• 3x 8ft brace tubes and 1x 10ft sway brace tube were installed on this scaffolding structure.
• 5ft tubes were used for the transoms, which the scaffolding boards are laid on.
• Sole boards were added to the ground for the base plates and tubes to sit on.
• 12 scaffold boards, including the toeboards, made up the working platform.

Rental period: The customer was given a four-week hire period to complete their tile hanging. This timeframe was sufficient to allow for the necessary preparations, installation, and final inspection.
