Service we supplied: Scaffolding for solar panel installation.

Location: Manor Road North, Itchen, Southampton.

Customer requirements: A solar panel company requested a quotation for us to put up a scaffold to the front elevation of a semi-detached 2-storey property in Itchen in Southampton for the installation of solar panels. We quoted this scaffold at £450 with a 4-week rental period.

Issues that arose: There were no issues when erecting this scaffold; we were able to access the front of the property with ease as the property featured a large open driveway, so there was plenty of room for our scaffolders to manoeuvre around with our tubes, boards and fittings when putting this structure up.  

What we did:

• Our team put up a scaffold structure that was approximately 6 metres wide and 5 metres high.
• This scaffolding featured 2 boarded lifts. The first lift was 6 metres long but only required boards on a 3.9m section with double handrails and toe boards, as requested by the customer, to keep the area above the front door clear.
• The top lift was erected at gutter height and spanned across the entire length of the front of this property. This platform also featured double handrails and toe boards for fall protection.
• Each access platform was 5 scaffold boards wide.
• Fixed ladder access was supplied using 2 ladders. The 1^st ladder went from the floor to the 1^st boarded platform, and the 2^nd ladder went from the 1^st boarded platform up to the top working lift.
• A ladder gate was also fixed on the first boarded lift.
• We installed 2x 6-metre raker ties at either end of the structure for increased stability. 
• 8x 21ft long scaffold tubes were used as the vertical upright legs to create this structure.

Rental period: A 4-week hire period was provided to this customer to complete the solar panel installation
