Repointing scaffold, Southampton Street, Farnborough

Project type: Repointing scaffold.

Site location: Southampton Street, Farnborough.

Customer needs: We were asked to provide a quotation for a scaffold to be erected on the gable end of a 2-storey property in Farnborough so that the customer could repoint the whole side elevation.

Obstacles and challenges we needed to resolve: We faced no challenges or obstacles when erecting or dismantling this structure.

What we accomplished:

• The first 2 lifts of the scaffold erected on the side elevation of this 2-storey property were 14 linear metres long, 4.5 metres high, and 5 scaffold boards deep.
• On top of this scaffold, we erected a small table lift that measured 4 metres wide and was approximately 6.4m high. This section was 4 scaffolding boards deep.
• Three scaffold lifts were erected in total, with the smaller table lift providing access to the apex section of the gable end; table lifts or hop-up lifts are often used in these scenarios for accessing the apex and other hard-to-reach areas.
• The scaffold featured double handrails and toe boards throughout all working platforms.
• Three yellow safety ladder gates were installed at the entrance of each lift.
• Two ladders were attached to the scaffold to provide safe access to all working platforms. The first ladder was from the ground up to the 2nd lift, and the 2nd ladder was fixed from the 2nd lift to the 3rd table lift platform.
• 14x 21ft scaffold tubes were used as the legs (uprights) for this structure, and these were placed on base plates.
• Multiple braces were installed to increase the scaffold’s sturdiness.
• At either end of the second lift of the scaffold, a tube was used to tie in the scaffolding; this was placed on the neighbouring property wall to shore the scaffold up further.

Length of hire: Our customer needed this scaffolding for a standard 4-week hire period.
