Service we supplied: Chimney scaffolding tower.
Location: Clausentum Road, Winchester, SO23.
Customer requirements: We supplied a quotation to this customer for access to a chimney at the rear of this property in Winchester for repair works. We quoted for a small scaffolding tower and then a saddle to the back of the chimney with 4 weeks’ hire for a total of £800.
Issues that arose: No problems arose when putting up or taking down this scaffold. Like with any structure where we provide access on the roof, our qualified team of scaffolders were vigilant not to break any tiles or damage them in any way when erecting and installing the framework.
What we did: We began by erecting a 2.4-metre-wide tower that was around 7.5 metres high on a side section at the rear of this 2-storey property. This structure was three lifts high, and the base and third lifts were fully boarded, allowing safe access to the chimney. As the 3rd lift was extended into the roof, we needed to place scaffold boards onto the tiles, so we could put the tube on top of them to protect the roof from damage. Due to the location of the stack on the roof, our team had to erect a saddle down the other side onto another tiled section so that our customer could access all sides of the chimney. This small platform area was only two boards wide due to the gap between the roofs.
