This 2-storey house in Fareham required a scaffold tower for roofing works

Access tower for roof works, Richmond Rise, PO16

Service we supplied

Scaffold tower.

Location: Richmond Rise, Portchester, Fareham, PO16 8DF.

Customer requirements: We were contacted to provide a quotation to supply, erect, and dismantle an access tower to the front elevation of a 2-storey property in Porchester, Fareham, to enable our customer to access the ridge tiles. We charged £400 for this tower.

Issues that arose: No problems arose while erecting this structure. However, we had to keep the front door and small staircase clear so the homeowner could safely enter and exit their property while we completed the roof work.

What we did: Our scaffolders erected a 2.4m wide tower (8ft) that was approximately 6 metres high (20ft). This tower consisted of two scaffolding lifts, with the first placed above the front door. The top lift was then built to gutter height so our customer could safely access the roof. This scaffolding tower consisted of 4 vertical tubes as upright standards and 4 horizontal tubes as ledgers, with 6 transoms fixed to the ledgers (3 on each lift), creating the boarded platforms.

Our work in the local area extends from small access towers to complete working platforms for residential and commercial properties. Explore our scaffolding in Fareham page for more on the access solutions we provide for roofing, repairs, renovations and construction work.

What else was included?

  • The two front standard tubes were placed on the lower level of the staircase, whilst the rear uprights were installed further up the stairs.
  • Two diagonal braces were fixed to the outside of the standards and the inside of the ledgers to provide additional support.
  • Hi-vis tredda plates were used as the base plates instead of sole boards.
  • Full ladder access was provided.
  • Both access platforms were 6 scaffold boards wide
  • We installed double safety handrails and toe boards on both lifts.
  • We installed a yellow ladder gate at the bottom lift to prevent falls.
  • A single diagonal support sway brace was installed on the 2nd lift of the tower.

Rental period

Our price includes a 4-week hire period. This is our standard rental time for smaller scaffolds like this.
