Service we supplied: Scaffolding for roof repairs.
Location: Woodhall Way, Fareham, Hampshire.
Customer requirements: A quote was given to this customer for supplying, erecting and dismantling a 2-lift scaffold to the front of an end of terrace house. This was for access to the roof so that repair work could occur. The price for this structure was £400, including a 4 -week rental period.
Issues that arose: No problems were encountered when our scaffolders came to put the structure up or dismantle it. We could park directly to the side of the property and had plenty of room to erect this structure safely.
What we did: Our team built a 4.0m long by 5.0 metres high scaffolding structure. Out of the 2 lifts we erected, only the 2nd lift was boarded out as a working platform. We used 5x 21ft galvanised scaffolding tubes as uprights plus a 16ft tube as the middle inside standard. Our scaffolders also installed 2x 16ft rakers against the structure for additional support as we could not place any of our tubes against the tile hanging on that section of the property.
The top lift was erected just below the soffits and guttering so our customer could easily access the roof. The platform was 5 scaffold boards wide, with a ladder gate, double handrails, and additional toeboards installed around the lower perimeter of the working area of the structure. A steel ladder was also supplied to give access from the ground.
Other information about this structure:
We used a total of 6x wooden 13ft scaffold boards on the top scaffolding lift.
We added sole boards under each base plate that the upright and raker tubes sat on to protect the grass from any damage from our equipment and to ensure the scaffold would not sink. A wooden board was also placed underneath the ladder.
Four braces were fitted in total, 2 on the 1st lift and 2 on the 2nd and final scaffolding lift.
Rental period: We provided this customer with a scaffolding hire period of 4 weeks.
