Scaffold for roof works on the front & rear of a 2-storey in Winchester

Service we supplied: Scaffold for roof access.

Location: Bar End Road, Winchester, Hampshire, SO23.

Customer requirements: We provided a quotation to supply, erect and dismantle scaffolding which included a hire period of 4 weeks so that this customer could access their roof to complete repair works. The scaffolds were placed on the front and back of a mid-terrace property in Winchester.

Issues that arose: There were no issues when we put up these scaffolds; however, the property was on a reasonably busy road, so our team had to be aware of vehicular traffic and pedestrians when manoeuvring our equipment.

What we did: 

• At the front of this house, we erected a tower that was approximately 5 metres wide by 5 metres high.
• This was a three-lift scaffold with only the top lift being fully boarded.
• This platform was used to access the roof area safely and was 5 scaffolding boards wide and installed at gutter height.
• Double handrails and toe boards were installed throughout.
• Fixed ladder access was also provided for the roofer to get from the ground level to the top.
• A metal safety trapdoor was also installed as a safety feature to prevent falling from height.
• At the back of the house, we also put up a 5-metre-wide tower that was 5 metres high.
• This structure was built up from a lower flat roof as a 5ft tower with a throw-in onto the lower level of the roof and then built up from there.
• This scaffold also had 3 lifts, with the top lift being 6 scaffolding boards deep and placed at the dormer’s gutter level.
• As with all working platforms, we fitted double handrails and kicker boards around the entire perimeter.

Rental period: This customer was given a 4-week rental period, our standard hire period for scaffolds like these.
