Scaffolding for gutter access on a 2-storey house in Gosport

Service we supplied: Scaffold to safely access the gutters.

Location: Priory Road, Gosport, PO12.

Customer requirements: We were asked to provide a scaffolding quote to supply, erect and dismantle a platform to access the guttering on the front of a traditional 2-storey semi-detached house in Gosport. We priced this project at £350, which included a hire period of 4 weeks.

Issues that arose: We did not face any problems when erecting or dismantling this structure. Our scaffolders did take extra care not to damage any pots or plants that were in and around the front garden.

What we did: Our team arrived at this address to supply and put up an approximate 8-metre-wide scaffold tower that was approximately 5 metres high. This structure was erected across the entire façade of the property so that they could fully access the whole section of guttering.

A small porch protruded slightly at the front with a slanted tiled roof, so we could not rest our tubes on it or install inside standards over this section. So we were required to install a 6m beam to span the porch roof, which would take the weight of the top lift.

The framework comprised two scaffold lifts, with only the top lift being fully boarded out, a total of 6 scaffold boards wide to create the working platform. This top lift was installed so the customer could comfortably reach the guttering without overstretching or bending over too much.

What else was included?

• Toe boards were fitted around the whole perimeter.
• Double safety handrails were installed on the working platform.
• Two rakers were placed at either end of the framework for additional support.
• Full ladder access was supplied from the ground to the working area.
• The ladder was secured to the framework using single couplers.

Rental period: We provided our customer with a 4-week rental period which is standard for this type of scaffold.
